THE LAW AND LOVE: ONE DEFINES THE OTHER!

GOD'S DEFINITION OF LOVE AS TAUGHT
IN THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS!

Matthew 7:12 - Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them:  for this is (the basis for, and the sum of) the Law and the Prophets.

Matthew 22:36-40Master, which is the great (greatest; most important) commandment in the Law?  Jesus said unto him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbor as (much as you love) yourself.  On these two commandments hang (these two commandments are the foundation of) all the Law and the Prophets.

Mark 12:28-33 - And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, Which is the first commandment of all?  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:  and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength:  this is the first commandment.  And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbor as (you love) yourself.  There is none other commandment greater than these.  And the scribe said unto Him, Well (said), Master, You have said the truth:  for there is one God; and there is none other but He:  and to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love your neighbor as (you love) yourself, is more (desired by God) than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices (demanded of those who fail to love God and love their neighbor).

Romans 13:8-10Owe no man anything, but to love one another:  for he that loves others has fulfilled the Law.  For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in (it is understood by) this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as (you love) yourself.  Love works no ill to (does nothing but what is good for) your neighbor:  therefore love is the fulfilling of the Law.

Galatians 5:13-14 - For, brethren, you have been called unto liberty; only do not use your liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.  For all the Law is fulfilled in one word (saying), even in this; You shall love your neighbor as (you love) yourself.

THE LAW WAS GIVEN TO TEACH US THREE THINGS:
1) GOD'S WILL FOR MANKIND:  TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER;
2) THAT FAILURE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER IS SIN;
3) IN OTHER WORDS, THAT ALL OF US NEED A SAVIOR!

Galatians 3:21 - . . . if there had been a law given which could have given life (provided a means to achieve the new birth, that is, eternal life - see John 3:1-18), verily righteousness should have been by the Law.  But the Scriptures have concluded all under (that all are guilty of) sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.  But before faith came, we were kept under the Law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.  Wherefore the Law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.  But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.  For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
