THE LORD'S INSTRUCTIONS TO BELIEVERS!
Matthew 28:18-20 (as I understand the text) - And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, "All authority is given unto Me in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and proclaim the Gospel (see 1 Corinthians 15:1-6) to all nations, baptizing those who believe, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: and then teach them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and know that I am with you always, even unto the end of the age. Amen."
Mark 16:15-16 (as I understand the text) - And Jesus said unto them, "Go into all the world, and proclaim the Gospel (see 1 Corinthians 15:1-6) to everyone. He that believes and is baptized, making a public show of his faith in Me (see Romans 10:9-10), shall be saved; but he that does not believe, shall be damned."
Luke 24:44-47 (as I understand the text) - And Jesus said unto them, "These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning Me." Then He opened their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, and said unto them, "Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Me, as the Christ, to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be proclaimed in My name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."
Acts 1:4-5, 8 (as I understand the text) - And Jesus, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, He said, "you have heard about from Me. For John truly baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days from now. . . . you shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the farthest regions of the earth."
SALVATION INVOLVES REPENTANCE
AND THE REMISSION OF SINS!
WHAT HAPPENS TO US!
The word "repentance" is translated from the Greek word metanoia, which means "a change of ones thinking." Think of it as being an example of a gestalt switch; one minute you see a thing, and all of a sudden, you see it differently. We have all seen the picture of the beautiful girl who suddenly appears to be and old witch-like lady; or the vase that changes into a silhouette of two faces. That is what repentance is: it is suddenly seeing ourselves as God sees us, as sinners, causing us to turn to Him for forgiveness.
WHAT HAPPENED TO JESUS!
"Remission" of sins is translated from the Greek word aphesis, which means "a sending away" of something; in this case, the guilt of our sins. We are told in the Gospel that Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins (see Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He removed them, taking them on Himself, and giving believers, in return, His righteousness (the state of being holy, or sinless - see 2 Corinthians 5:21).
THE CRUCIFIED, RESURRECTED, AND
ASCENDED LORD IS COMING BACK SOON!
BELIEVERS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO IT,
BUT UNBELIEVERS ARE DREADING IT!
