IF YOU ARE A BELIEVER, YOU HAVE A JOB TO DO!

CHRIST'S INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CHURCH AGE!

Matthew 28:16-20 (KJV) - Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.  And when they saw Him, they worshipped Him:  but some doubted.  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.  Amen.

Matthew 28:16-20 (NASB) - But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.  When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful.  And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  God therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

MAJOR DIFFERENCES:

YOU CHOOSE WHICH VERSION IS BEST!

*  power vs. authority - Which best fits the context?  Jesus stated this and then gave His disciples the command to go....  The Greek is exousia, not dunamis, the word from which we get dynamite.

*  teach vs. make disciples - Note that what follows in context is baptism; only those who are saved by believing the Gospel are to be baptized.  The Greek is matheteuo, which means to disciple others.

*  all nations - The same Greek word, ethnos, translated "nations," appears 93 times as "Gentiles," "nation" 64 times, and "heathen" 5 times in the King James Version.  

*  teaching them to observe - Note as well, that following their profession of faith, and their baptism, were the disciples to teach the believers what Jesus had taught them.  The Greek in this case is didasko, which means to instruct those who submit themselves as a  students.

*  world vs. age - The Greek word here is aion, which means "a length of time."  It appears as "ages" in 1 Corinthians 2:7; 10:11, as well as in Hebrews 9:26.  If the Lord meant "the end of the world," He would be contradicting 2 Peter 3:10 and Revelation 21:1, which refer to a time after the 1000 year Millennial Reign of Christ on earth.

THE DISCIPLES WERE TO PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL

TO ALL PEOPLES, JEWS AND GENTILES!

THE GOSPEL:  JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS, HE

WAS BURIED, AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD,

JUST AS THE SCRIPTURES SAID HE WOULD!

FAITH IN HIM RESULTS IN SALVATION AND OUR

BEING ADOPTED AS A CHILD OF ALMIGHTY GOD!
