OLD TESTAMENT PRAYER - PSALM 23
[1] The LORD is MY Shepherd; I shall not want.[2] He maketh ME to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth ME beside the still waters.
[3] He restoreth MY soul: He leadeth ME in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
[4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with ME; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort ME.
[5] Thou preparest a table before ME in the presence of MINE enemies: Thou anointest MY head with oil; MY cup runneth over.
[6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow ME all the days of MY life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
NEW TESTAMENT PRAYER - MATTHEW 6:9-13
[9]After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.[10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
[11] Give US this day OUR daily bread.
[12] And forgive US OUR debts, as WE forgive OUR debtors.
[13] And lead US not into temptation, but deliver US from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LETTER OF THE LAW
AND THE SPIRIT OF THE LAW! MATTHEW 5
[21] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:[22] But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
[27] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
[28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
[38] Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
[39] But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
[43] Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
[44] But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you....
IS IT ANY WONDER THAT ISRAEL WAS AMAZED AT JESUS' TEACHINGS?
