WHAT IS THE CHURCH?
The word "church" is from the Greek word ἐκκλησία (ekklesia) , which, when used to describe the Christian faith, has two meanings: 1) It is a local assembly of believers in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; and 2) It is the sum of all said believers world-wide.
WHEN DID THE CHURCH BEGIN?
Acts 2:1, 4, 47 - "And when the Day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place....And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance....Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."
TO WHOM DOES THE CHURCH BELONG?
Matthew 16:18 - Jesus said, "...I will build MY Church...."
WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION OF THE LORD'S CHURCH?
1 Corinthians 3:11 - "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE WORD "CHRISTIAN?"
Acts 11:25-26 - "Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul (later known as the Apostle Paul): And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the Church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."
[Note: "Christian" is from the Greek word Χριστιανός (Christianos), which means "a disciple, a believer in, and a follower of, Jesus Christ."]
HOW DO I BECOME A CHRISTIAN? BY FAITH IN THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST!
Romans 1:16-17 - "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."
Romans 10:13-14, 17 - "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear...? So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
The Gospel, translated from the Greek εὐαγγέλιον (euangelion), "the tidings of good news," is the message of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Mark 1:1 wrote, "The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God...." Paul defined it: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 - "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you....For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures...."
