THE GREAT COMMISSION!
Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
THE SCRIPTURAL ORDER OF
THE THREE PARTS TO THE GREAT COMMISSION!
I. TEACH ALL NATIONS - SHARE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST!
Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Gentile; non-Jew).
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 - Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also you are saved - - - that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
EXAMPLE: Acts 2:22-24 - You men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that He should be holden of it (held by it).
II. BAPTIZING THEM - BAPTIZE THOSE WHO BELIEVE THE GOSPEL!
Acts 8:5, 12 - Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. - - - when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Romans 6:3-5 - Know you not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection.
EXAMPLE: Acts 2:36-38 - Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, Whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
III. TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE ALL I HAVE COMMANDED YOU!
Ephesians 4:11-13 - And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: until we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
1 Timothy 4:6, 10-11 - If you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine (teaching), where unto you have attained. - - - For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, Who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe. These things command and teach.
Titus 2:11-15 - For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men (believers), teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for That Blessed Hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise you.
EXAMPLE: Acts 2:41-42, 46-47 - Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine (teaching) and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. - - - And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the Church daily such as should be saved.
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, WHEN BELIEVED, SAVES THE LOST!
ONLY BELIEVERS IN JESUS CHRIST SHOULD BE BAPTIZED!
BAPTIZED BELIEVERS IN JESUS CHRIST SHOULD OBEY HIM!
