WORSHIPPING JESUS!

WE ARE TO WORSHIP ONLY GOD!

Exodus 20:2-5 -  I am the LORD your God, Who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.  You shall have no other gods before Me.  You shall not make any graven images, or any likenesses of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:  you shall not bow down to them, nor serve them:  for I the LORD your God am a jealous God....

Matthew 4:8-11 - Again, the devil took Jesus up into an exceeding high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; and said unto Him, All these things will I give You, if You wilt fall down and worship me.  Then Jesus said unto him, Get thee hence (get away from Me), Satan:  for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.  Then the devil left Him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto Him.

EXAMPLES OF THOSE WHO REJECTED MAN'S WORSHIP!

Acts 10:25-26 - And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.  But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

Acts 14:11-15 - And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.  And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.  Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.  Which when Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, and saying, Sirs, why do you do these things?  We also are men of like passions with you....

Revelation 22:8-9 - And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.  Then he said unto me, See you do it not:  for I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the sayings of this book:  worship God.

EXAMPLES FROM MATTHEW OF JESUS RECEIVING WORSHIP!

Matthew 2:2, 11 - Saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews?  For we have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship Him. - - - And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell down, and worshipped Him:  and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Matthew 8:1-3 - When He was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him.  And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped Him, saying, Lord, if You will, You can make me clean.  And Jesus put forth His hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be clean.  And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Matthew 9:18-19 - While He spoke these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped Him, saying, My daughter is even now dead:  but come and lay Your hand upon her, and she shall live.  And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did His disciples.

Matthew 14:32-33 - And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.  Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped Him, saying, Of a truth You are the Son of God.

Matthew 15:25-28 - Then came she and worshipped Him, saying, Lord, help me.  But He answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.  And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.  Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is your faith:  be it unto you even as you will.  And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Matthew 28:5-9 - And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not: for I know that you seek Jesus, Who was crucified.  He is not here:  for He is risen, as He said.  Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  And go quickly, and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead; and, behold, He goes before you into Galilee; there shall you see Him:  lo, I have told you.  And they departed quickly from the sepulcher with fear and great joy; and did run to bring His disciples word.  And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail.  And they came and held Him by the feet, and worshipped Him.

Notes:  

- All Scripture is based upon the King James Version of God's Word.
- I have used Matthew quotes to show Jesus accepted the worship of men, because Matthew's Gospel is written primarily to the Jews to show Jesus fulfilled most of the prophecies concerning their Messiah during His First Advent.  The rest will be literally fulfilled following His Second Coming!  There are many other references to Jesus being the recipient of worship in the other Gospels; for example:  Mark 5:1-8;  Luke 24:50-53; John 9:35-38; 20:26-28; etc.!

JESUS IS GOD MANIFEST IN THE FLESH.

HE IS THE EXPRESS IMAGE OF HIS PERSON.

HE IS THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE.

HE NOT ONLY DESERVES OUR WORSHIP, 

BUT HE DESERVES OUR SUBMISSION!
