ENOCH: THE SON OF CAIN!
[Adam - Cain - Enoch]
Genesis 4:17-18 - And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he (Cain) builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
ENOCH: THE SON OF JARED!
[Adam - Seth - Enos - Cainan - Mahalaleel - Jared - Enoch]
Genesis 5:18-24 - And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: and Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: and all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: and Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: and all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: and Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Luke 3:37-38 - . . . Enoch, (who was the son) of Jared, (who was the son) of Maleleel, (who was the son) of Cainan, (who was the son) of Enos, (who was the son) of Seth, (who was the son) of Adam, (who was the son) of God.
Note: The italicized wording above is not in the original Greek manuscripts. While it is obvious that Seth through Enoch were the begotten sons of their fathers, Adam was not the begotten son of God! Adam was created by God, not begotten of Him. Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of God (see John 1:18; 3:18; and 1 John 4:9)!
Hebrews 11:5-6 - By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Jude 1:14-16 - And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him. These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
ENOCH: LIKELY ONE OF THE TWO WITNESSES IN REVELATION ELEVEN!
Because of Hebrews 9:27, many Bible students believe that the two witnesses will be Enoch and Elijah. Both men were removed from this world without having tasted death. In addition to the fact that the Hebrew verse clearly states that God has appointed every man to die, and for them never to experience death, the Scriptures would be wrong: that is not possible - God inspired the writers of the Word and God cannot err.
Hebrews 9:27 - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment....
Both witnesses will be killed and the whole world will rejoice . . . until God raises them to life (Revelation 11:7-12)! Perhaps another factor in Enoch and Elijah being identified as the two witnesses, is that Enoch was a Gentile; Elijah was a Jew: the witnesses audience will consist of Gentiles and Jews - Christians will have been caught up in the Rapture at the end of Chapter Three of Revelation. The Church is not mentioned during the Tribulation period described in Chapters 6-19.
MAY WE ALL LIVE TO SEE THE LORD COMING FOR HIS CHURCH,
AND MAY ALL OUR LOVED ONES WHO FAIL TO ACCEPT HIM NOW,
COME TO FAITH DURING THAT HORRIBLE SEVEN-YEAR TRIAL!
