SOME THOUGHTS ON THE HOLY SPIRIT

Believe it or not, the words "Holy Spirit" only appear together in seven verses in the King James Version of the Bible!  They are:

Psalm 51:11 - "Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me."
Isaiah 63:10-11 - "But they rebelled, and vexed His Holy Spirit:  therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He fought against them.  Then He remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is He that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of His flock?  Where is He that put His Holy Spirit within him?"
Luke 11:13 - "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children:  how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?"
Ephesians 1:13 - "In Whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation:  in Whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise"
Ephesians 4:30 - "And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."
1 Thessalonians 4:8 - "He therefore that despises, despises not man, but God, Who hath also given unto us His Holy Spirit."

However, the words "Holy Ghost" appear in ninety verses, all in the New Testament, including eleven verses in Luke (1:15, 35, 41, 67; 2:25-26; 3:16, 22; 4:1; 12:10, 12), and two verses in 1 Thessalonians (1:5-6)!  I am sure that "Bible experts" can tell you why both appear in the same two books, but I have no clue.  The Greek word translated "Holy" in both cases is hagios The Greek word translated both "Spirit" and "Ghost" is pneuma.  "Holy Ghost" also appears in Matthew, Mark, John, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, 2 Timothy, Titus, Hebrews, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, and Jude.

Other references to the "third member" of the Trinity include:

"The Comforter"parakletos is found in four verses (John 14:16, 26; 15:26; 16:7).
"The Spirit of God"ruwach elohiym is found in fourteen verses, and pneuma theos ten verses.

Perhaps the reason the Spirit of God is mentioned so few times in the New Testament, is due to His role:  He is focused upon revealing and glorifying Jesus Christ, the Son of God!

John 14:26 - "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, Whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
John 15:26 - "But when the Comforter is come, Whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, Who proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of Me."

I WONDER IF WHEN A PERSON IS FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST,
THE THINGS HE SAYS AND THE THINGS HE DOES, ALWAYS MAGNIFY JESUS?
I TRULY BELIEVE THEY DO!
SO PERHAPS WE CAN KNOW WE ARE FILLED WITH GOD'S SPIRIT WHEN
OUR WORDS AND OUR DEEDS GLORIFY OUR LORD AND SAVIOR!
