THE MOST IMPORTANT WORK EVER DONE TOOK ONLY SIX HOURS!

THE PRINCIPLE OF WORKING SIX AND RESTING THE SEVENTH

Genesis 1:31-2:2
  - "And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.  And the evening and the morning were the sixth day....Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.  And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made."

Exodus 16:22-27 - "And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man:  and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.  And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, Tomorrow is the rest of the Holy Sabbath unto the LORD:  bake that which ye will bake today, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.  And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.  And Moses said, Eat that today; for today is a Sabbath unto the LORD:  today ye shall not find it in the field.  Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, in it there shall be none.  And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none."

Exodus 21:2; Deuteronomy 15:12 - "If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve:  and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing....And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee."

Exodus 23:10-12 - "And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof:  but the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat:  and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat.  In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy olive-yard.  Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest:  that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed."

THE SAME PRINCIPLE IS SEEN IN THE WORK OF JESUS ON THE CROSS

Matthew 27:45-50
- "Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?  That is to say, My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?  Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calls for (Elijah).  And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave Him to drink.  The rest said, Let be, let us see whether (Elijah) will come to save Him.  Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."

Mark 15:25, 33-37
- "And it was the third hour, and they crucified Him....And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.  And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?  Which is, being interpreted, My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?  And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, He calls (Elijah).  And one ran and filled a sponge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave Him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether (Elijah) will come to take Him down.  And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost."

Luke 23:43-46 - "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, TODAY SHALT THOU BE WITH ME IN PARADISE.  And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.  And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.  And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, He said, Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit:  and having said thus, He gave up the ghost."

John 19:28-30 - "After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.  Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, IT IS FINISHED:  and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost."
