AN OUTLINE OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION
The key verse to understanding that there are three sections of Revelation:
Revelation 1:19 - "Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter...."
THE THINGS WHICH THOU HAST SEEN
Revelation 1:20 - "The mystery of the seven stars which thou saw in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou saw are the seven churches."
THE THINGS WHICH ARE
Revelation 2:1-3:22 - John's letters to the seven churches which are in Asia (see 1:11).
[Note: Jesus speaks concerning the present condition of the seven churches.]
THE THINGS WHICH SHALL BE HEREAFTER
Revelation 4:1 - "After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter.
