THE ONE THING MAN HAS TO DO TO BE "SAVED!"

MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE BOOK OF JOHN:
SALVATION IS BY FAITH IN THE DEATH, BURIAL, AND
RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD!

Jesus came unto His own people, and the vast majority of the Jews did not receive Him!   But, to all who received Him, to them He gave the power to become the sons of God, even to those who believed upon His name.  (John 1:11-12)

Jesus told Nicodemus that just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness and those who, by faith, looked upon it and were saved, the same is true for those who will believe when He is lifted up:  whosoever believes in Him can not perish, because he has eternal life.  For God loved the world so much, that He sacrificed His Only Begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, because he already has everlasting life.   (Numbers 21:4-9; John 3:14-16)

Jesus told His critics that whoever hears His Word, and believes in His Father Who sent Him, already has everlasting life, and will not be condemned; but has passed from death unto life.  (John 5:24)

Jesus said that he who believes in Him, as the Scripture said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  But He was speaking of the Spirit, Whom they that believed in Him should receive:  for the Holy Ghost had not yet been given to indwell believers; because Jesus was not yet glorified.(Isaiah 44:3; John 7:38-39)

Jesus heard that they had cast out the young man He had healed; and when He had found him, He said unto him, Do you believe in the Son of God?  And the young man asked Him Who He is, because he wanted to believe in Him?  And Jesus told him, he had both seen Him, and it was He that talked with him.  He believed, and he worshipped Him.  (John 9:35-38)

Jesus told Martha, that He was The Resurrection, and The Life, and whoever believes in Him, though he were already dead, yet he shall live again.  And, all those who are alive and believe in Him, will never die!  (John 11:25)

Jesus told His disciples that one of those eating with Him at the table would betray Him, just as the Scripture said would happen.   He told them ahead of time so that when it happened, they would believe He was the One sent by God.   (Psalm 41:9; John 13:18-19)

The Jews, because it was the preparation day for a special Sabbath, not wanting the bodies to remain upon the crosses on the Sabbath day, asked Pilate to have their legs broken, so they would die quickly and be buried.  The soldiers broke the legs of those who were crucified with Him, but when they came to Jesus, they saw that He was already dead, so they did not break His legs.  Instead, one of the soldiers used his spear to pierced His side, and because both blood and water came out, he knew Jesus was dead.  These things were done that we might believe the Scripture which said no bone of His would be broken, and also the Scripture saying they would look upon Him Whom they pierced!  (Psalm 22:16-17; 34:20; John 19:31-37)

AFTER JESUS CHRIST WAS RISEN FROM THE DEAD

"And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book:  but these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name."  (John 20:30-31)
