THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS IS IN CHRIST'S SHED BLOOD.

SALVATION REQUIRES THE REMISSION OF OUR SINS!

"Remission" is defined as:  "The forgiveness; pardon; that is, the giving up of the punishment due for a crime."  In the case of mankind, the "crime" is sin; all are guilty of sin (Rom. 3:23), and the punishment due is death (Ezek. 18:4, 20; Rom. 6:23)!  In order for a just God to pardon us, someone had to die in our stead.  Even while we were still actively sinning, Jesus took our place and died for us (Rom 5:8; 1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Jn. 5:7-8; etc.)!  Here are some of the Bible passages which give us insight into the great cost Jesus paid for the remission of our sins:
Matthew 26:26-28 - "And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body.  And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; for this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."

[Note:  "testament" is translated from the Greek διαθήκη (diathēkē), which occurs 33 times; 20 of which are translated "covenant."  Of those 20, 11 are found in the Book of Hebrews.]

Luke 24:44-47 - "And He said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning Me.  Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:  and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

Acts 2:36-38 - "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, Whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the Apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Acts 10:39-43 - "And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; Whom they slew and hanged on a tree:  Him God raised up the third day, and showed Him openly; not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with Him after He rose from the dead.  And He commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He Who was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.  To Him give all the Prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believes in Him shall receive remission of sins."

Romans 3:24-26 - "Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time His righteousness:  that He might be just, and the Justifier of him which believes in Jesus."

Hebrews 9:22 - "And almost all things are by the Law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."

[Note:  "almost" has to be referring to the "unpardonable sin," which denies the signs given by the Holy Spirit that Jesus is the Son of God.  In Mt. 12:28, 31-32, we read:  "But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you....Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men:  but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.  And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."]

Hebrews 10:16-20 - "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put My Laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.  Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.  Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh."

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD,
AND WORTHY OF YOUR OBEDIENCE AND WORSHIP?
IF YOU DO, YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD!
