LIFE; EVERLASTING LIFE; ETERNAL LIFE

What is the difference between "life," "everlasting life," and "eternal life?"

Life:  In this world, plants, animals, and humans all have life.
Genesis 1:26 describes mankind as being in the "image and likeness" of God.
Genesis 2:7 speaks of a unique human being, Adam:  "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
Adam's life would not end as long as he had access to the Tree of Life; and as long as he did not eat of the "forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil,"  God told him that the day he ate of it, he would die (Genesis 2:17).  Because his physical life did not end until he reached the age of 930, Adam's death was "spiritual death"; he ceased to be in the "likeness of God."  The Word of God says that we will not be in God's likeness again until we see Jesus face-to-face (1 John 3:2)!  Note that when Seth was born, he was born in the "image and likeness of Adam," not God! (Genesis 5:3-5).
Jeremiah 1:5 refers to another unique individual, Jeremiah:  "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou came forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."
The fact that human life begins before birth is also seen in the description of pregnancy in the Bible; women were said to be "with child," which appears 25 times between Genesis 16:11 and Revelation 12:2; two of which refer to Mary being "with child" while she was carrying Jesus!

Everlasting life:  "Everlasting life" has a beginning, but no ending.  Although man dies spiritually the moment he sins, God has provided the means for him to be born again spiritually by faith in His Son, Jesus Christ!
John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:5-7 - Jesus told Nicodemus, "Except a man be born of water AND of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh (physical birth); and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (Spiritual birth).  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
John 6:40, 47 - "And this is the will of Him Who sent Me, that every one which sees the Son, and believes on Him, may have everlasting life:  and I will raise him up at the last day....Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on Me hath everlasting life."

Eternal life:  Only God is eternal; "eternal" denotes "having no beginning nor ending; always existing"; that is why God told Moses His name was "I AM"; for there never has been a time when God has not existed!  Born again believers have "eternal life" because they are "IN Christ"; they are partakers of His eternal life!
Deuteronomy 33:27 - "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and He shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them."
1 Corinthians 15:22 - " For as in Adam all die, even so IN Christ shall all be made alive."
Galatians 3:26-27 - "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as have been baptized INTO Christ have put on Christ."
1 Timothy 1:17 - "Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
1 John 5:11-13 - "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is IN His Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...."

TIME IS SHORT!  TO GO TO HEAVEN, YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!
