NOAH, LOT, AND WHOSOEVER WILL!

HISTORY AS A PICTURE OF THE FUTURE

Genesis 6:5-8, 17 - "And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  And it repented the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.  And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it (I have repented) that I have made them.  But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the LORD....And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die."

Genesis 19:13-17, 19 - They said, the LORD "...will destroy this place, because the cry of them (has grown) great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.  And Lot went out, and spoke unto his sons-in-law, who married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city.  But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons-in-law.  And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.  And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him (outside of) the city.  And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed....(Then Lot said,) Behold now, thy servant hath found GRACE in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast showed unto me in saving my life...."

FUTURE PROPHECY ILLUSTRATED IN HISTORY

Luke 17:26-30 - "And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.  They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.  Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.  Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed."

Luke 21:20-22 - "And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.  Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter there into.  For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled."

SALVATION HAS ALWAYS BEEN BASED UPON ONE THING: 

GOD'S GRACE!

Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For by GRACE are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD:  not of works, lest any man should boast."
