REPENTANCE IS EVIDENCE ONE BELIEVES IN THE REMISSION OF OUR SINS

THE MESSAGE THE DISCIPLES WERE TO PREACH
Luke 24:44-47 - "And (Jesus) said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning Me.  Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:  and that repentance AND remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

REPENTANCE
"Repentance" is translated from the Greek μετάνοια (metanoia), which occurs 24 times in the King James Version.  For the definition, let's compare Scripture with Scripture by citing the following examples where the same Greek word is found:

Luke 5:32 - Jesus said, "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

2 Corinthians 7:10 - "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of:  but the sorrow of the world worketh death."

Hebrews 6:1 - "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God...."

2 Peter 3:9 - "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

REMISSION
"Remission" is translated from the Greek ἄφεσις (aphesis), which occurs 17 times in the King James Version.  Again, let's compare Scripture with Scripture by citing the following examples where the same Greek word is found:

Matthew 26:28 - Jesus said, "For this is My blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."

Acts 10:43 - "To Him give all the Prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins."

Colossians 1:13-14 - God, "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son:  in Whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins..." ["forgiveness" is from the same Greek word]

Hebrews 9:22 - "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."

SALVATION IS ALSO A WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit moves believers to share the Gospel with us.
  *  The Gospel is the power of God to save  all who will believe it (Rom. 1:16)!
  *  The Gospel is found in its simplest form in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4!
      - Jesus died for our sins according to the Scriptures!
      - Following His Crucifixion, Jesus was buried!
      - His Father raised Jesus from the dead according to the Scriptures!
The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and our need to be forgiven!
The Holy Spirit gives us the faith we need to trust in Jesus as our Savior!
  *  Ephesians 2:8 - "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God...!"

BELIEVING IN THE REMISSION OF OUR SINS
BRINGS ONE TO REPENTANCE!
