FROM SPIRITUAL DEATH TO SPIRITUAL LIFE

GOD IS A SPIRIT BEING

John 4:24 - "God is a Spirit: and they who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."



ADAM WAS CREATED IN THE LIKENESS OF GOD

*  Genesis 1:26-27 - "And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.  So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them."

*  Genesis 5:1-2 - "This is the book of the generations of Adam.  In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made He him: male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created."

BUT ADAM CEASED TO BE IN THE LIKENESS OF GOD

*  Genesis 2:17 - "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it:  for in the day that you eat thereof, you shall surely die."  [Adam died spiritually that very day.]
*  Genesis 3:9-10 - "And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where are you?  And he said, I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself."
*  Ezra 9:15 - "O LORD God of Israel, You are righteous...." 
*  2 Corinthians 6:14 - "Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:  for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness?  And what communion has light with darkness?"
*  Genesis 5:3 - "And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his (Adam's) own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth."

 ALL ARE SPIRITUALLY DEAD UNTIL THEY ACCEPT JESUS AS THEIR LORD

*  John 3:5-6 - Jesus said, "Except a man be born of water (physical birth) and of the Spirit (be made alive spiritually), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."
*  John 11:25 - "Jesus said unto her, I AM the resurrection, and the life:  he who believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live."
*  Ephesians 2:4-5 - "But God, Who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, has made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved)."

BORN AGAIN BELIEVERS ARE IN A PROCESS OF REGAINING HIS LIKENESS

*  1 Corinthians 15:51 - "Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed...."
*  Philippians 1:6 - "Being confident of this very thing, that He Who has begun a good work in you, will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."
*  1 John 3:2 - "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is."
